JRR
coordinating group and training Meeting
29 September 2008

On 29 September 2008, No Peace Without
Justice (NPWJ), in its capacity as Interim JRR Secretariat,
organised the second meeting of the JRR Coordinating Group, kindly
hosted by the
German Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIF) in Berlin.
The meeting was convened as a follow-up to the
second JRR
Coordinating Group meeting in Brussels on 30 April 2008.
The purpose
of the meeting was twofold:
-
to
develop the essential elements of a JRR Pilot Training Course,
including in particular the content of the training curriculum
and a draft schedule for the training course; and
-
to meet
as the Coordinating Group to make recommendations in relation to
the JRR Pilot Training Course and the next meeting of the JRR
Policy Group.
At the
conclusion of the day-long meeting, participants adopted, ad
referendum, an outcome document that made various recommendations in
relation to the two purposes of the meeting, for circulation to and
adoption by the JRR Coordinating Group, on a no-objection basis.
The outcome document was circulated on 10 October 2008 and the
recommendations therein were formally adopted, through the
no-objection process, on 15 October 2008.
The Report from the JRR Coordinating
Group Meeting on
29 September 2008 (Eng/French
to follow)
details the discussions that took place, which - together with the
Outcome Document (in Annex II of the Meeting Report)
- are forming another step in the future preparations towards eventual
deployment.
