JRR and UN Women have been nominated for a Webby Award, a prestigious international award honoring excellence on the internet. The interactive web feature Justice now: Ending impunity for sexual and gender-based violence as international crimes has been nominated under the Law category for Websites. The animated feature showcases the various paths to justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence as international crimes, gives voice to survivors’ stories and looks at the critical role investigators from the joint JRR-UN Women SGBV Justice Experts Roster have played in ending impunity for sexual and gender-based violence crimes. It also features the short documentary Evidence of Hope.
Dubbed as the Oscars for the Web, the Webby Awards honor the best of the internet every year. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a judging body comprised of more than 2000 leading Internet experts, business leaders and creative celebrities, chose this year’s Nominees from more than 13,000 entries globally. Every year, two awards are given per category: The Webby Award selected by the Academy and a People’s Voice Webby voted on by the public.
