Justice Rapid Response (JRR), the Institute for International Criminal Investigations (IICI) and the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative (Dallaire Initiative) will be holding a training course on Monitoring and Investigating Conflict-related Violations Involving Children which will be held from 21 to 31 August 2016 in Jordan.
This 10-day training course is specifically tailored for professionals with experience in dealing with crimes and violations involving children, ideally in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, to prepare these professionals for investigations involving multi-disciplinary, diverse monitoring and investigative teams that can be deployed rapidly and with short reporting deadlines. The goal of this training course is to increase the pool of experts that can be deployed rapidly to participate in investigations of conflict-related crimes and violations involving children. Successful course participants will become eligible for certification to the JRR roster, in order to be available to assist States, as well as the United Nations and other international institutions with the jurisdiction to carry out investigations into such crimes.
We encourage nominations from professionals with expertise as specified in section II of the Call for Nominations below and/or experience in dealing with violations involving children, and who are willing and could be made available for mainly short-term international deployments at short notice.
Please be informed that, at the request of some countries wishing to nominate experts for this training course, we are granting a short extension of the deadline for nominations: applications can be received up to SUNDAY, 15 May 2016.
Please note it will not be possible to extend the nomination period further, as sufficient time will be needed for the selection process and especially the visa and travel arrangements for the nominees who will be attending the course.
